BioRural seizes the opportunity to create a circular Bioeconomy even during the festive days!

Our partner InCommOn-Innovative Communities Onwards, envisioned an innovative and sustainable initiative through the project kaFsimo, and brought it to life in collaboration with the Ενεργειακή Συνεταιριστική Εταιρεία Καρδίτσας, under the Horizon 2020 project BECoop H2020.

For this initiative, InCommOn – Innovative Communities Onwards, collected the coffee waste of the local Christmas fair Milos ton ksotikon (https://milosxotikon.gr/) in Trikala, Greece, and converted it into pellet, highlighting that by using the grounds of the coffee cups as clean biofuel for heaters, we can produce energy ecologically and sustainably!

In addition, 75 elementary students that visited the Christmas fair, coming from across the whole country, had the opportunity to discover how beneficial it is to recycle coffee and convert it into an environmentally friendly source of energy! The students were shown how the process of recycling works and were given new insights on the renewable sources of energy.

It is always a good idea to inspire children with environmentally friendly practices! Stay tuned for more initiatives related to the Bioeconomy sector.
