MAIN ACTIVITIES

The Biomass Centre for Energy (CBE) is a scientific and technical association, non-profitable, privately owned, provided with public utility, which main purpose is to promote the sustainable use of biomass for energy, through the optimization and knowledge of its various value chains, from the production and management of biomass, through the collection, processing and transport, to the end use, thus contributing for the improvement of integrated resources management, for the prevention of rural fires and for energy transition.

It carries out technical studies, through national and international projects. CBE’s accredited laboratory provides analytical testing services mainly for the solid biofuels market and develops R&D works in the field of solid biofuels. Moreover, it provides technical support for the biomass industry. This Centre gathers among its members the main economic agents in the field of biomass for energy and entities of government with responsibility in this sector in Portugal.
